Dr. Norambuena-Contreras (h-index 25 & over 2000 citations) is an Associate Professor in Civil Engineering Materials and Founding Director of the Laboratory of Materials (LabMAT) at the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering of the University of Bío-Bío, Chile. He leads a research group that conducts interdisciplinary research focused on innovative construction materials for Civil Engineering from a vision of waste valorisation as a source to build more sustainable and resilient infrastructure. Dr. Norambuena-Contreras’s research has been mainly focused on the self-healing bituminous materials based on biomass co-products and industrial wastes. His current research is focused on the development of biobased microcapsules for the self-healing of bituminous and cement-based materials from a multiscale experimental approach.
